Darin's Story
Life
I have a PhD in Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership. I also have BA and MA degrees in Anthropology (Archaeology was my sub-field specialization - ask me about what, when, and where I've dug, it's kinda interesting). My current adventures include creating a new field of study within the Organization and Management discipline - Middle Way Management. Developing a new, more compassionate way to manage people is proving to be quite a challenge and a lot of fun. At this time, I'm collecting data for a seminal article through my consulting firm, eXcolo Research Group.
I recently published a book chapter, "Assessment Strategies for Servant Leadership Practice and Training in the Virtual Organization", for _Leadership in the Digital Enterprise: Strategies for Planning and Training_. I just completed an article that's a distillation of my doctoral dissertation study ('bout dang time), "Serving the World: An Assessment of the Global, Pan-Cultural Applicability ...Expand for more
of Servant Leadership," which I'll be publishing in the Journal of Cross Cultural Management. I'm also proposing two new works: (1) a book chapter on using Second Life to teach business ethics (my favorite oxymoron) courses at the college and grad school levels and (2) a lower division college textbook, _//Biz 1.0: An Introduction_, to a large publishing house. I'm guessing these projects will keep me busy for the next few months.
I'm still teaching and enjoying my kids. Ian turned 21 in November. Oy. Jordan turned 20 in December, Trey is 14, and Reed is 12. We recently took a monster road trip to the Olympic Peninsula to visit my fourth grade teacher, Roy Morris. I've been telling my kids for years that I peaked intellectually in the fourth grade - now they have proof. On the way home, we stopped in Forks and at all of the other area attractions (e.g., the La Push cliffs) The Daughter insisted on seeing - she's in the first Twilight movie, so how could I refuse? Fun, fun, fun...
