Darlito's Story
My memories of East St Lous High was as a member of the band. I played in the woodwind section (clarinet then bass clarinet). I won many state high school band awards. My best friends were Pamela Hammond, Gail Knuckle, Darryl Harris, Kenneth Ulmer, and other band members. I had hopes of attending college but really did not know what I wanted to do. My sister, Sharon Moore was in the class of "67" and was the only black cheerleader on the squad, I think she was the second black female to be on the East Side cheerleading squad.

2 days. I got my degree and rose from a little black girl from East St Louis, Illinois to becoming the #1 medical technician in the United States Air Force. (Chief Enlisted Manager, Nursing Services, Office of the Air Force Surgeon General). I have experienced so much, traveled so far and met some of the greatest folks in the world. It was only through God's grace that I was able to do such things in the time period of 1966 - 1993. I lost my husband of 39 years in Nov 09, he was also retired Air Force. I live in Maryland outside of DC. I have a son,Brian (Shatonya) and two grands (Kaiya & Kaelyn). It all started for me in East St. Louis, Illinois. I retired again (30 Dec 2012) from Federal Civil Service as Director Quality Services, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling focusing on Healthcare Risk Management, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety.
