My story starts out with me being raised on Cemetery Hill for those who don't know, that is land south of Broadway where the old Skaggs store is now.Cherry Street,born there Nov 1957. I attended DHS when it was K-12 all black school, before integration sent me to Robert E Lee.I remember alot from those years when all i had to do was walk 5 mins down Boone Dr and i would be on the steps of the school,no crosswalk just walk up the steps and be greeted by hundreds of bright trophy's and ribbons of a school that was of brains and athletic champions.Now from there i move on to Lee, In its main hall was a trophy case, in it was not a thing just some lights.The year was 1967 i'm just in the 4th grade and i thinking they don't have any sports or nobody here to do anything.
