Phyllis Handy:  

Since 1982, I've been being a Mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and worker. My daughter was born in 1983, now 26 years old, and I raised her in North Gadsden, where she attended Gaston High School. She is now married, and I have a beautiful 8 year old grand-daughter. I worked in fastfood and retail, for several years selling either chicken, hamburgers, then shoes, insurance, cars, blue jeans, and finally floor covering. In Oct. of 1997 my father and me opened our own Carpet Store right in good ole Glencoe, AL. We had Carpets and More in Glencoe for over 11 years. Sad to say this past Sept. we had to close our doors, and let life move on. That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, but with the ecomony heading the direction it has headed we didn't have much choice. In Jan. of 2004, at the age of 40 years old, I gave birth to a 7.1lb. baby boy named Jacob Wesley Handy. He is the love of my life, and gives me more than enoug...Expand for more
