Darryl's Story
Life
After graduation, on July 25th 1985 I left West Seneca to start life in the US Army. After boot camp and AIT I was assigned to the 1st 32nd (later redesignated the 4th 67th) Armor Battalion in Friedburg, W.Germany for 2 yrs. as a Heavy Wheel Mech./Recovery Specialist. Jan. 1986 I was reassigned to the HMMC DISCOM and then the 709th Support Bn. in Ft.Lewis, WA.
July 1989 I was honorably discharged. I joined the Army National Guard in Buffalo. Served with the 152 Engineer Bn. and the 105 Military Police Co. until Oct. 1996.
From there I decided to see what the Air Force had to offer. I joined the 107th Air Refueling Wing in Niagara Falls, NY. My job there was Aircraft Hydraulics Specialist. I worked on the Air Forces KC-135R Stratotanker. What a cool job and lifetime experience that was. We flew with that plane all over. Some places good and some not so good. I made it through the Cold War era, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom. I called it quits and retired Oct. 2006.
I had a couple crappy jobs after I left the Army in '89. I hit "the lottery" in '92 when I started working for the town of West Seneca. 15 mo...Expand for more
re years to go. Then if all goes well, I'll retire from there at 55.
My daughter Robyn, from my 2nd marriage was born in '98. She's my pride and joy of my life. She is attending a Catholic school in E.Aurora. I want her to have a better education than I had. I'm with my girlfriend Michele. We've endured many years of ups and downs together. Someday I will make the "plunge" again with her. She's waiting patiently and I do appreciate it.
I finally bought myself a Vette back in 2000. I resurrected the '81 into a fine summer cruiser. We go to many cruise nights during the summer, and occasionally do a few long distance trips with the vette. I have pics of my ride at.... cardomain.com/ride/2595697
Hopefully I will get to talk to some of you at the next reunion. Unlike the last one. For those of you that didn't know. A certain individual verbally accosted my guest for sitting in the wrong seat instead of taking it up with me. Kind of funny....the seat wasn't marked. The group I was with said that nobody used those seats after all. Nice to see some s**t don't change after 20 years. Ain't that right Mrs. B.R (H)?
