Darynda's Story
Life
I have been married for 27 years, the two of us are retired from the US Navy. We have a son and a daughter and live in Wisconsin. My husband is a Master Collision Repair Technician/Refinisher but specializes in automotive painting. Our son graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Illinois and our daughter is in college. I am 100% retired and loving it!!!!!
Workplace
While in the Navy, I was an Air Traffic Controller for 12 years then switched careers and served on 2 aircraft carriers, the USS Forrestal (AVT-59) and the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67), as the air department career counselor. I became a command career counselor, at a squadron in Jacksonville Florida, until I retired.
I have been involved with numerous direct selling companies. I finally graduated from college, in 2004, with a BA in Organizational Communications.
I hope they remember me as "The wild thing!"
I always wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
Read a good crime novel.
The wildest thing I ever did in school was sit in the middle of an all guys conversation as an invisible person.(Never again)
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have good benefits, good work hours, and a good salary to be able to deal with the day-to-day happenings.
Yes, I do have 2 heros/angels in my life and that would be Pollyanna. She is a fellow sailor I met on the USS John F. Kennedy and she has given me the inspiration to be myself and never give up on me.
Sherry-(who lost her battle with cancer Sept. 2012) She was my best friend in Wisconsin and always made me feel special-she was my angel in disguise!!! God only knows how I miss her so!
I have lived in the following places:
Missouri, California, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Sicily, Georgia, New Orleans, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Virginia, Philadelphia and Wisconsin. In my young years I moved because my father is a Civil Engineer and we went where the jobs were. My older years I was in the Navy and was stationed in many places.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Kelly Long, because she is my dearest childhood friend...Expand for more
.. happened on my 50th birthday-2009.
I like all CSI shows and anything mystery.
My biggest surprise was meeting my husband and giving birth to our children. I actually dreamed of having my daughter-who says dreams don't come true?
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen and add on a closed porch. My dream home would be 3000 sq. ft..
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to church, then spend the rest on family, our house and invest.
To be truely happy, I would be with my husband and children in our present home, living life to the fullest.
My first crush married someone else.
My best friend would tell you I'm compassionate, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a b...h.
My first job was at a laundromat, where I got paid cash to keep it clean. What I remember most about it was that I was the pinball/fooseball queen.
I went on vacation with Kelly Long and her family to Silver Dollar City. When we came home, their garage was filled with a gazillion flies. When the garage door was opened, it was like the movie, "The Birds," flies were everywhere because the trash was left in there.
I have learned to be very patient and not to be so serious about life.
I would love to see my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Maupin because my mother did her hair and I could never get away with anything in school.
My current age is 53. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old and boring. I was so completely misguided.
My career aspirations were to be a corporate trainer. I changed my mind when I got a serious cough that has the medical field dumbfounded.
No, I do not dress like I did 10 years ago. I dress casual and up to date.
I share my home with my husband.
No trophies.
I would have gone to college right after high school to get my bachelors degree, my masters and then my doctorate.
My oldest friend just came back into my life via Classmates.com. Kelly and I met in the 4th grade and just seemed to get along so well. We did everything together and had a blast at it all.
Nothing really-maybe that I am retired from the Navy.
We bought a Harley Davidson 2012 Ultra Classic-LOVE 2 RIDE!!!!!!!
