Dave's Story
I¿m going to try & make this short. After graduation, I went to the JC for a couple of years and then took a track scholarship to Cal Poly SLO. I continued to compete in track & field and then got into the Scottish Heavy Events (maybe I¿ll share some of those pictures someday ¿ scary). I finally put away the toys and got myself a job as a Police Officer. I worked in Oakland for a couple of years before entering into a 24 year Law Enforcement Career with the Santa Rosa PD. I rode a police motorcycle for awhile and worked narcotics (guess what picture came from those days) for several years - Lots of stories to tell. I retired from Santa Rosa in 2006 and went on to the Sonoma County Sheriff¿s Department. Along the way I got married to my wife Susan and had two great kids (both in college).
Just a note: a couple of years ago, Jim Lanz & I got the idea we wanted to jump back in to help Piner High School. We had always talked ...Expand for more
about an Athletic Hall of Fame. So, we got together with the school, formed a committee (which initially also included Jim Underhill, Steve Casperson, Bob Zeni, Randy Nunes, Betty Castino & Jan Hansen) and in 2006 we inducted our first class. Since then, we have entered into working partnerships with the Piner High School Foundation (which endeavors to assist Piner Teachers and Students with monetary help in their academic endeavors) and the Piner High School Boosters Club. We were instrumental in getting the new Stadium named after ¿Jim Underhill¿, raising a new scoreboard, and are now working on getting lights for the stadium. We have a web site (just google Piner High School Hall of Fame) for any of you who are interesting in attending any of the functions and/or who might be interested in helping ¿
It¿s another great way to get back in touch with old class mates and teachers.
Looking forward to hearing from old friends.
