Dave's Story
Military (short version)
In September of 1988, I headed off to Boot Camp. After that I went to school, and then my first Command in Jacksonville, Fl. I found myself on my first (and only) Med. cruise during May of 1988~ aboard one of the Navy's oldest aircraft carriers- USS Coral Sea (CV-43). Soon after I was aboard one of the Navy's newest~ USS Abe. Lincoln (CVN-72) on my way 'round S. America.
A 3 year shore tour up at NAS Whidbey Island followed, and then I was off to NAS North Island, CA. During this tour I did 2 1/3 WESTPACs.

y next tour took me back out to Jacksonville at NS Mayport. I was an instructor at NAMTRAGRUDET. After 3 years of 'fun' there, I headed overseas to Diego Garcia. Go ahead, look for it on a map- you have a 50/50 chance of finding it. I LOVED life there!!! I only got to stay for one year. I would've stayed longer if they'd let me!!!
I next headed back to NAS North Island, CA. Here I made one more WESTPAC, and then transfered one last time to my final Command. I retired from the NAVY during this tour, in the Summer of 2008...
