David's Story

Life My Spouse I moved to Iowa before the semester break of my senior year. Did my last semester of school there and that is where I met my wife Lil. We were married in 1972, have raised four pretty darn good kids, and just had our 34th anniversary 2-19-2006. Update 3-5-18; Lost Lil in late 2006 to kidney disease. Remarried in 2008 to Carla and will celebrate 10th anniversary in May 2018. My Pets With four kids, over the years we have had just about everything, dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, horses, gerbils, etc. Somehow, we missed out on birds and reptiles but that's OK with me. Currently, only our youngest daughter is still at home with two cats. Update 3-5-18: Have bought a small acreage about 20 miles south of Des Moines, IA. Have 2 of the grandkids living with us and 3 cats. My Kids Have three daughters and one son. They have been pretty good kids overall and haven't caused me as much grief as I caused my parents. Thank the Lord!!! Update 3-5-18; Gained a stepson and step daughter when I remarried. Have a total of 7 grandkids now and will gain 2 more when my youngest daughter remarries next month. e Post Office since leaving the service in 1973. And it's really pretty boring and routine. Thankfully, I have some volunteer work that I do that keeps me sane and is my true passion. Update 3-5-18; Retired from the Post office in early 2007 after Lil died. I was going through Colo-Rectal surgeries and treatments at that time and was laid up for the better part of a year. When I got to feeling better I went to work for the Iowa Donor Network assisting in recovering organs and tissue for transplantation. Was very meaningful work for me. In 2009 (40 years out of high school) I returned to school at Grandview University in Des Moines and got certified to be a Drivers Ed, instructor. Did that for awhile then went to driving a paratransit bus, then delivering caskets to funeral homes, then driving a medical transport van. Retired from working completely in August 2016 when we took custody of an 8 year old grandson with special needs. My job now is getting him on the school bus every morning and being here when he gets home and being available during the day to get him from school if the need arises. Update October 2019: Have moved to Sierra Vista, AZ permanently.

I was able to blow this up a bit but if I go much larger I start to lose definition.
Congratulations and good luck to grandson Dax Crees as he starts his first job at age 14 just like his grandpa did. Best of luck buddy.
