Dave's Story
Life
On the work side of life. Been a cop for about 10 years , the last 5 I've been assigned to Operation Safe Streets. While with OSS which is a 6 man, tactical plain clothes unit targeting drugs and guns in the high crime areas, I earned several citations for various high profile arrests and operations. We (OSS) earned "Top Cops" honorable mention in June 07 and were invited to Washington DC where we were awarded by John Walsh from America's Most Wanted among others. Our recognition was for seizing 87 guns dwarfing the previous record of 54 which I was also involved in.
I have been recently reassigned to Operation FED-UP which is a task force comprised of myself, another detective and several ATF agents whose only focus is gun arrests.
On the family side, I have been married for 12 years with 2 girls 6 and 11. Being a cop, I mostly work nights but my new position allows me to work mostly days. I now get to spend more time with my girls then ever before.
I met my wife in the Air Force during my 9 years of service prior to becoming a cop. We met in the Phillipines...Expand for more
, she was also stationed there but she is from Florida, (sorry for blowing the jokes that were forthcoming.) While in the Air Force, I served as an Air Traffic Controller and performed in Operation Desert Storm as well as multiple other military functions.
I'm still pretty much who I was when I was younger (so I think) and believe it or not still hang in Clifton every few months with the same crowd.
Believe it or not, after putting forth little effort and little interest in high school, I now possess 2 Graduate degrees, and a few other undergrads. I teach at part time at Del. Tech. College and have been doing that for several years.
Although life has often treated much like a baby treats a diaper, I can't complain. Things have actually worked out well for me and through allot of adversity and with some help from Jack Daniels, I think I'm in a pretty good spot.
I guess we all grow up; it just took me a a little longer then most.
Oh by the way, here is a montra we all could live by "DON'T SWEAT THE PETTY STUFF BUT IT IS ALRIGHT TO PET THE SWEATY STUFF."
