Dave's Story

Life Looking back on the last 30 or so years, everything has happened, and at the same time, not much has happened. After Woburn I took a job with an electronics firm for a couple of years, and during that time got married. In '78 our whole family took off to Chatham Ontario where we owned a bar for two years. That didnt work out well so we all moved back to the Toronto area, where I took a job with Bell Canada in sales, working out of Scarborough Town Center. In 1981 my son Michael was born and currently resides in Ontario. From there, and several jobs later I am working out of Edmonton, Alberta for a Wire and Cable distributor, Noramco. While in Edmonton I met and married an awesome lady, Debbie, and we, at least I, now spend our time working and travelling. For those who knew my sports background, I continued to Pole Vault and high jump until about 1990 when I threw my back out, pretty much bringing my track and field career to and end. Before I left the sport I won the World Masters Games in 1985 in the Pole Vault and was 3rd in the high jump. In 2001, the World Masters Games were held in Edmonton and I nearly went back, but decided against it, instead...Expand for more
settling to watch the games. I had the opportunity to meet Sergei Bubka, who set at least 20 world records in the pole vault at a breakfast event. I remember my first year at Woburn in Band with Mr. Fowler. I wanted to play the drums real bad, but, i got the flute, so needless to say I bailed on that class. About 5 years ago I thought what the hell, might as well try the drums for real. So I took some lessons and got involved in this "weekend warrior" thing where you get together with 4 other guys, learn 6 songs and then 5 bands play at a bar one night. Well I really enjoyed playing so I found a few guys who like the same music(classic rock), and now I play in two bands, and every now and again we actually get paid. Now, I spend my time working for Noramco as their Branch Manager and honing my golf skills. Just recently (2007) we purchased a second home in Phoenix and plan to retire there, at least for the colder months of the year, where i plan to play golf every day, maybe get in some baseball and eventually get back to Italy at least once more. My Brother Bruce, works for a large land developer, and my sister, Leanne, works as a teacher in Mississauga.
