Dave's Story
(Updates all the way at the end)
Hello! :0)
After graduation from St. Alphonsus and then Moreau High, I joined the Air Force in 1973. I was a medic, and worked as an operating room technician. I married the love of my life, Sue, on St. Patrick's Day, 1979, and our daughter, Sarah, was born in 1981; our son Chris was born in 1988. I continued to work in the operating room until I was 40 when I decided a less stressful life was calling. For the past twenty years, I have worked as a barber in Tacoma, Washington, owning my own shop for the past ten years.
I live a simple and quiet life, and I am enormously happy. My wife worked as a nurse for years, and is now retired; Sarah is a professional classical musician - principal trumpet of the Eugene (Oregon) Symphony, a freelance performer playing with other symphonies including the Seattle Symphony, and a college professor (University of Oregon); Chris is a middle school music teacher. My wife and I love our grandson, Henry, who is almost 3 yrs old.
I think back to my time at St. Alphonsus with fondness, and often tell my customers: It is the students from those years I...Expand for more
'd rather hear from than almost anyone. Steve Frost is still my best friend after 12 years in school together and all these many years. We see and talk to each other often.
Best wishes,
Dave.
7-5-16: My latest adventure - I am learning to fly a sailplaner. I have always loved gliders, been interested in aviation, and actually had a chance to take flying lessons when I was 16 in a powered plane ( a Citabria) and soloed but never got my license due to an episode of vertigo and a middle ear problem that lasted for a while. Now, at age 61, I have gotten up in the air once again with a local soaring club, the Puget Sound Soaring Association based near Enumclaw, Washington, in the foothills of the Cascade mountains. My goal is get my Private Pilot license, and to own a Schweizer 1-26 single-place glider of my very own; in fact, I am going to look at one for sale this coming weekend. If that's not 'the One' maybe some other classic glider will come along. Until then, I work on my flying skills, study for the exam, and prepare to get my pilot's license. What a great adventure at this age!
I'd be glad to hear from you.
