My story:
My background is quite eclectic. I was born in Richmond, VA and raised in New York City for most of my life. As a teenager, I studied martial Arts, namely Dragon Style Kung Fu. Not long after I became my sifu's right hand student, I became his principle instructor for several years. At the time, I was in high school (i.e. H.S. of Art and Design) studying cartooning and animation. Ever since I could remember as a child, I was drawing and painting.
My high school studies evolved into photo-realistic illustrations and graphic arts.
I left the Martial Arts after devoting my life to God for whom I live for daily. While growing in the church, I took on the position of pianist, which was a childhood interest of mine. Yes, I became the pianist and organist for the church after several years of practice. Not only that, but I became a vocal coach, songwriter, piano instructor, musician and makeup artist for my church's theatrical performances, vocalist, choir director, calligrapher and graphic artist. There I continued for some thirteen years.
While in the church, I grabbed hold of technology, which was a childhood fascination of mine. I started a 'brick and mortar' college for computer programming where I was an ¿A¿ student. I left programming to study music at the City College of City University of New York, where the music professors thought that I was a gifted pianist. After my...Expand for more
wife complained about me not spending much time with her, I slowly left the music industry as a semi-professional keyboardist, in an attempt not to neglect her. I got a few jobs supervising at Pitney Bowes, Kinko's and managing at Kay Bee Toy stores. I did field work as a copier/ printer technician for Ikon, after which I moved to Westchester County in Upstate New York. While working for Ikon, I started certification school for my MCSE, which I never realized because the school filed bankruptcy long before I was able to complete my certs. I left Ikon to pursue an IT career where I been ever since. I work for companies like Citibank, Pitney Bowes, Kraft Foods North America, and now MasterCard International. I actually love working in the IT industry. As a Personal Consultant, I meet many interesting people. One of my customers a former Ambassador to Guinea is a United Nations Assistant Secretary General of the U.S. under Kofi Annan. Another of my customers is a video game musician, professional DJ, and owner of his own private armed security operations, with whom I also do part-time work on the weekends. Yet another customer is a Civil Engineer who works for a contractor, and is self-employed.
After the IT industry started outsourcing, I decided to go back to school to get my bachelors degree and broaden my horizons. I am now a graduate of New York Institute of Technology 2008, where I studied Management. In addition, I am a member of the Sigma Delta Beta professional society.
There is a lot more, but that's it for now.
