David's Story

College College was alot of hard work; had 3 jobs and went to school full time. Loved U. of Colorado & Boulder as my dad had a ranch there. Dropped out and was drafted, & returned after Vietnam on GI Bill. Dropped out again, and finally returned to complete BA & MA in clinical psychology. Think I got a lot more out of school once I was more mature. Workplace Didn't really have a vocational path when I got back from Vietnam; did photography in India, Nepal, and Thailand, numerous construction jobs, cabinetmaking for a while. Imported Carpets from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Morocco, for several years. Then worked as a drilling fluids engineer in Sudan, India, Egypt, Pakistan, and the Gulf Emirates. ns Outreach Representative for EDD, Santa Barbara while I finished BA & MA. Currently am Readjustment Counseling Therapist doing individual and group therapy, for combat PTSD and rape victims. Military Having dropped out of college at CU, was diving for lobster in U.S. Virgin Islands when draft notified me in 1964. Entered U.S. Army in Puerto Rico, Basic-Ft. Gordon, MP AIT-Ft. Gordon, OCS- FT. BENNING, Airborne Sch., Jungle Ops. Sch.-Panama, assigned to 3rd Armored Div, Ulm Germany, Then to B co./2/502/101st Airborne, 1st Brigade, 1967-68 as rifle platoon leader, 2nd Lt. Wounded twice awarded 2 Purple Hearts, Silver Star, & Bronze Star w/V. 2nd tour, ran training school for 101st Abn. Div, Phan Rang & Bien Hoa. Got out somewhat scrambled, backpacked thru Europe , Middle East, India, and Thailand.
