David's Story
What's to say? I usually tried to be invisible in plain sight. Which was rather difficult in high school, seeing as I stuck out like a sore thumb. But I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself.
Let's see. I was born at the end of the 60s and finished elementary school in 1981 at the tender age of 12. Ended up going into a small private school and remained in private schools until moving south in 1985. We moved 4 times that first year, which is why the fall of 86, I entered Brainerd as a Junior. You see, I was the equivalent of a 10th grader when we moved, but since the curricula was a bit unorthodox in the private school, they had to test to see if we knew knew what was on our transcripts. That didn't stop me from graduating, just that they weren't sure how many credits to give me. After graduation, I worked a couple odd jobs before getting the job at Electronics Boutique. Quit that July of 90, helped set up the 153 Wal-Mart the fall of 90, and by May of 91, began working at Pizza Hut. Worked the first stint May 91, to February 93. Worked ...Expand for more
a little for RGIS from May or so 93, until early spring 94. By August 94, I'd been on Nate's nerves enough and he heartily approved of my helping Uncle Stuart. So I spent 2 and a half months in Chicagoland doing that, coming home to Chattanooga at the end of October 94. By the end of December, I was back at Pizza Hut, though at Valleybrook not Brainerd Rd. From December 94 until early January of 97, I was at Valleybrook. That's when the manager of the time transfered over to Brainerd Rd. to improve the unit's numbers and convinced me to go with him. I was there until the Ides of March 2000. From January 97 until January 99, I was a Transitional DCO at the Remote Encoding Center. So I worked both jobs, until I was cut loose in 99 and fell back on working Pizza Hut full time. The REC needed keyers for Christmas 99 and I came back for 90 days before being let go again. A few weeks later, towards the end of February 2000 I got another appointment for longer shift as a TE. Tendered my resignation at the Hut and have been at the REC ever since.
