David Bettinson:  

Following graduation I attended 1 year at the University of Utah before completing a 2-year LDS Spanish-speaking mission in South Texas. I returned to the UofU, met my future wife (Colleen Coleman, South High Class of '69) and joined the national guard shortly thereafter. Colleen and I were married in 1971 and I continued my education at the "U". 1974 was an eventful year as I graduated from the "U", we celebrated the birth of our first child, and I was off to Pensacola, Florida to become a pilot in the United States Navy. During a 21-year career in the Navy we moved several times and added to our family. Colleen and I have 6 children (4 boys, 2 girls), and especially enjoy our now 14 grandchildren. In 1990 we returned to Salt Lake and I was able to spend my last 5 years of active duty as the Executive and Commanding Officer of the NROTC Unit at the U of U.
