David's Story
Life
After 4 great years at Marsh Fork, I went to W.Va. Tech (finished with a BS in Physics), jouneyed to Michigan (EMU, MS in Physics), additonal classes in Physics at U of M, worked for GM for 12 years, transitioned to EDS for 5 years, I was married to a wonderful psychiatrist, Colleen, for3 years during the mid-80's. After the divorce, I moved to northern Va area for 14 years, .went to work at the Nasdaq Stock Market for 7 years, and returned to MI as EDS Chief Technologies for GM's IT Infrastructure in Nov. 2000. I was elected to the role of an EDS Fellow in June, 2006. In Dec, 2006, I was expatriated to the United Kingdom where I worked at Rolls-Royce in Derby, UK for about 2.5 years. I repatriated back to the USA.mid-2008 and served as Chief Technologist for HP in the Manufacturing, Energy, and Life Sciences Industries. In 2010, I rejoined GM leading their IT Infrastructure (e.g., storage, computing, networking, tool platforms, etc.) until I retired from GM in late 2013. Retirement lasted a couple of months; I was not happy with retirement and joined a product management company, Aras Corp, as CTO of Automotive at the start of 2014.. I continue to work in this same role specializing in Connected and Autonomous Vehicle engineering. I also give talks at the Soci...Expand for more
ety of Automotive Engineering (SAE) events on the topics of reducing complexity in Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Model Based Systems Engineering for Connected and Autonomous vehicles, and linking virtual and physical assets for high fidelity simulation for these same vehicles. I love to get up and go to work every day; I am one of God's servants and also dabble in Bible Study.
School
Doris Webb was an outstanding teacher; I'm very glad to have attended her classes. I began taking classes in both computer science and electrical engineering at Stanford in 1989 and continue there until 2012. When that program was moved to Santa Clara, I stopped going as I attended these programs to be at Stanford's campus.
