David's Story

Well where to begin? I could relate a tale to ya' all about what's come and gone since 2002, and only a moderate amount would be made up. For flavor, of course. But would that be fair? Some may find it interesting. Others? Probably not so much. I've seen people come and go. Some have moved on to warmer climes, others to that giant beer garden in the sky. I've watched friends join the military, become successful in life where others have floundered. And I've seen free spirits take to the road with an openmindedness I could never muster in a thousand years. Where does this leave room for me? What the heck am I doing to leave a legacy, an image, an impression, a glimmer of recognition in the eyes of my peers? Well... In the years after graduation I worked in a small cafe in downtown Roseburg where I learned to loathe most people in that town. Sure there were good ones, but most of them just deserved a scalding hot cup of java to the face on most days. Through this job I met a lot of people, fostered some pretty strong relationships and opened up a few pathways for social contacts. It was an interesting experience. One I wish to never repeat. (A lot of people are freakin' crazy, they just dont mention that crucial bit of information when you first meet them. I should know, I'm bloody well one of 'em.) Recently I've moved up to Portland. I say recently, but it was last Summer where the shift in habitat occurred. Sort of got myself out of my safety zone, kicking and screaming all the way. The original intention was to finish up school, find a career and just live life....Expand for more
I left the first two up to chance and decided that the best course of action was to just get a jump on the third option. I've taken up the pen. Well, that would be the physical representation of a writer in the past, but I suppose the computer has become the new notepad of the wordsmith these days. I've grown pretty fond of writing down and relating some of the rather obscure tales rattling around in the old braincage and its become a goal of mine to be published by 2009. A lot of headway has been made towards this goal and the likes of Stephen King, Neal Stephenson and yes, even you Neil Gaiman (I know you're reading this, the restraining order doesnt mention digital privacy, but holy cow man, I need my space!) will never know what hit them. I'm more or less an open book. If you ask me a question, you'll definitely get an answer. You may not enjoy the response, or the honesty that flows from my mouth, but I could care less. Most folks probably remember me as a quiet, reclusive fellow that mainly kept to himself and his small little social group at school. I'd like to think I've matured beyond that a wee bit. Sure, I enjoy keeping to myself on occassion, but I've discovered that people dont give a damn if you act the fool, just so long as you can make 'em smile. So, if you're in the Portland area and want to catch up on old times or just shoot the breeze, I'm usually down for some drinks or music, sometimes even both. Cheers folks. I'll let you get back to whatever boring (In comparison to reading this masterpiece) thing you were doing before you stumbled upon this page.
