David's Story

NOTE; Life Would share with anyone who contacts me. If you are reading this, why not send a note, or at least sign and let me know you stopped by. NOTE: I will be changing photos on a fairly regular basis. Life has been a real adventure, from supercharged Corvettes, US Navy, chimpanzees, crossing oceans, lived aboard and cruised 3 sailboats up to 46' long(13 yrs), adventures in Central America, South Pacific Islands(Tonga/Hawai'i, lots of reptiles, SCUBA 40+ yrs, commercial flying, true Idaho rural living(similar to the Valley and Hidden Hills), 13 years aboard sailboats, cycling, several professions including yacht broker, chem dry franchise owner, commercial pilot, national sales supervisor electronics, supermarket manager, restaurant operator, award winning artist, amatuer herpetologist/entomologist, Air National Guard civilian,; and now preparing to find and live aboard the next sailboat, with possible relocation to Gulf Coast Northwest. Check out raptor22x on ebay, as I play with it. Also have a part time "Handyman" Service, specializing in repairs, painting, fibreglass and epoxy work. Hoping to get some stories into print or, even better, into movies.(Living in Boise Idaho for now, near the airport. Visitors always welcome; the great outdoors all around for now! Miss the ocean though! Have many fond memories of CPHS and the old San Fernando Valley. Where are you? How do you like it there? Let me know. Send a note, maybe we can get together sometime, someplace! love to hear from you! Thanks for stopping by! The latest: The next sailboat has been put on hold. I liked my new (6+ years) full-time job with the 124th Fighter Wing here in Boise and made a 6.5 go of it. The AirGuardsmen are the best bunch of folks I've ever worked with! It's kind of interesting to see some retiring in their mid forties! I'm senior to all 1500 at the base. I "earned" an unprecedented 25 awards the past 6.5 years.........and I say "Lord, I'm not sure what You have me there for"..............It's a long story how I even got hired with applicants in the hundreds applying. I was the 2nd one hired, 3 weeks after the first guy, 24 yrs old, and he is long gone. I am in building maintenance, and had been assigned the Wing headquarters, complete with the Wing Commander and on down, as one of my 5 buildings, the past 6.5 years. One of the awards is from the Wing commander, presented in an unprecedented manner. I have been treated with respect, courtesy, and honor(as a DAV/Veteran). Most say it's because of the old fashioned work ethic. , Had........another Corvette to fill in the interim. . Especially since many of the fighter pilots I work with have either one or the other! Neither is ideal in the winter months here, though some winter days the roads can be clear and the sun shining. When the smoke cleared, the upgraded C5 Corvette won.............for now. Maybe I should have priced the tires first!(rears are $1,000 EA). The Vette is f-a-s-t. It is pewter, 6 spd, with external engine horsepower upgrades, and suspension mods too. It's comparable in most ways to a ZO6. Pictures coming soon. Check out the 124th Fighter Wing on the net. You might see me in their online magazine called the Beacon Live. My son Chris is in the current one, and many others. .S. Power Squadron, AOPA Various other college programs GRADUATE WORLD EVANGELISM SCHOOL OF MINISTRY 1981 Workplace WORKED FOR THRIFTIMART ON VENTURA BLVD IN WOODLAND HILLS, WHILE ATTENDING PIERCE COLLEGE. STUCK WITH THEM WHILE DOING SOME COMMERCIAL FLYING, UNTIL UNCLE SAM CALLED! AFTER SERVICE IN THE NAVY I RETURNED TO THRIFTIMART AS MANAGER IN VENTURA CALIF. WE WERE LIVING ON A SAILBOAT IN SANTA BARBARA AT THE TIME. THEN IT WAS INTO THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS AS A MANAGER/DIVISION SUPERVISOR FOR A FEW YEARS(HUMPTY DUMPTY HOUSE OF EGGS). WENT TO EL SALVADOR WITH A BIOLOGIST, FOR THE RESTAURANT COMPANY FOR AN EXTENDED TIME TO EXPLORE THE LOBSTER/FISH IMPORTING POSSIBILITY. WAS THAT EVER WILD TIME! RETURNED AND SAT ON MY BOAT FOR 2 WEEKS, THEN DECIDED TO BECOME A YACHT BROKER. DID IT FOR SOME 13 YEARS IN REDONDO BEACH, MARINA DEL REY, Poulsbo WA, INCLUDING DELIVERING A 57' YACHT FROM FLORIDA TO CALIFORNIA, THRU THE CANAL, A 6 MONTH VOYAGE. MOVED UP TO EUREKA/FORTUNA, CA, AREA AND GOT INTO REAL ESTATE WHILE OWNING MANY RENTALS. OWNED A CHEM-DRY CARPET CLEANING FRANCHISE TOO, COVERING 2 COUNTIES!(GOOD BOOK MATERIAL!), THEN BACK ABOARD SAILBOAT IN POULSBO, WA, WHERE I HAD A BOAT BROKERAGE AND DIVE SERVICE. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS IT WAS ON TO RURAL IDAHO(MIDVALE, POP: 140), WHERE MY SISTER BONNIE(TAFT '66, CHECK OUT HEARTBRANCH/HEARTBMULES ON THE NET!)) WAS MARRIED TO A COWBOY. GREAT CHANGE, TRUE COUNTRY LIVING, COLD WINTERS; RAISED CATTLE AND SHEEP, HAD 40 ACRES OF IRRIGATED GROUND, PLUS PASTURE. EVEN LEARNED FARMING, MOSTLY ALFALFA, AND HAVING A HUGE GARDEN WAS GREAT! (DUCKS, CHICKENS, GEESE, GOATS). HUNTING, FISHING, PHOTOGRAPHY, RIDING(DIRT BIKES, ATV'S, SNOWMOBILING, HORSES, EVEN SOME FLYING AT THE LOCAL DIRT STRIP). DEER, ELK, COYOTES, WOLVES, BEAR AND A HOST OF OTHER VARMINT WHERE ALWAYS AROUND. SMALL TOWN POLITICS AND ATTITUDES CAN BE DIFFICULT TO OVERCOME, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU WORK IN THE SMALL SCHOOL(and people find out you are from California!) LIKE I DID DOING ALL THE MAINTENANCE AND COACHING. STILL LIVE ABOUT 100 MILES FROM THERE, BUT IN THE CITY NOW. GOT TIRED OF THE SNOW AND LONG COMMUTES TO SERVICES AFTER SO MANY YEARS THERE. HAd A HANDYMAN SERVICE I DID PART TIME BY CHOICE, SPECIALIZING IN EPOXY/FIBREGLASS REPAIR AND PAINTING, OR WHATEVER A REQUEST MAY BE. HOPE TO LEAVE HERE IN A YEAR OR SO FOR AN AS YET UNDECIDED COASTAL LOCATION, GULF COAST OR MAYBE BACK TO WASHINGTON, AND LIVING ABOARD THE NEXT SAILBOAT. THAT PRETTY MUCH COVERS THE PAST 45 YEARS BRIEFLY!! Pretty much my own boss, good conditions. Need a buyer for this house!HOUSE SOLD! CURRENTLY: Building maintenance, full time,Idaho State Military employee, Air National Guard, 124th Fighter Wing/ 190th Fighter squadron, Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. A-10 Warthogs. Close to home, son Chris is full-time military in vehicle operations(mechanic). It's close to home, get to see Chris . Was it really 50 years ago(about the birthdays of many of the current colonels/chiefs at the base) I tried to join the Van Nuys Air Guard???? Military U.S. NAVY UNDERSEA WARFARE TEAMS 12 & 13, 1967-1968. BASED LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA/ VUNG TAU VIETNAM. PROUD OF MY SERVICE, SAD ABOUT 'NAM AND LOSS OF FRIENDS. I PUT MY SCUBA EXPERIENCE TO USE, EVEN HERE IN IDAHO. TO GET AN IDEA AS TO WHAT OUR "SET UP" AND DUTIES WERE, OR IUWG1VETS.ORG/MIUWS, YOU'LL FIND IT WASN'T MUCH LIKE THE REST OF THE NAVY, MORE LIKE THE UDT/ SEALS! THERE WERE CASUALTIES. MADE ENDURING FRIENDSHIPS ON THOSE 50 MAN TEAMS. THANKS KENNY "KD" DANZ FOR TEACHING ME THE SKILLS I NEEDED TO SERVE & SURVIVE ALONG WITH YOU AND THE OTHER 48 GUYS ON EACH TEAM! AND THANKS FOR STAYING IN TOUCH ALL THESE YEARS, A CLASS ACT!!
