David's Story

Life After I left Ohio in my senior year, I moved to Virginia, where I finished high school, and then joined the Air Force. After Basic, I went to Tech School at Keesler A.F.B. and was assigned to Charleston after graduation. I spent 3 years there, and was transferred to Wright-Patterson A.F.B. There I met my first wife. We had two children together. After 5 years back in Ohio, (and 9 years in the Air Force), we moved to Georgia where I went to work for Delta Air Lines. I have been with Delta for 19 years, and due to some health problems, I've been on disabilty for a year now. My first wife and I divorced in 2001, and I have since remarried a South Carolina girl named Vicky. She came with 2 children of her own. Now we have my daughter, Shannon, my son David, stepdaughter daughter Tiffany (a special needs child who is a pistol), and stepson Chet. We have our hands full! On top of the kids we have 3 big dogs, a small mixed breed dog, 4 cats, 3 cockatiels, & not to mention the occassional possum, racoon and deer that pass through our property out here in rural Georgia. I have recently been ordained as an Independant Evangelistic Minister and I'm working on being ordained by a Baptist Church. I am planning on going into a pastoral care or counseling ministry. My wife & I have been very active in church, and we are both searching for a place where we can serve in full time ministry. Though our daughter will spend the rest of her life as our resident princess, the two boys are toying with the idea of going into the military. The Air Force of course, since that's the best branch. Chet seems to feel like he wants to be in special forces, and David is still somewhat undecided as to what he wants to do. We all feel that some time in the military will help them mature and g...Expand for more
ive them more time to decide on their respective careers, and also help them continue their education. I started spending more time on classmates trying to find old friends and get in touch with my past. I now wonder if it hasn't been a mistake. It seems that most everyone else I used to know really don't want to rekindle old relationships. Doesn't do much for my ego. FIDO - Forget It and Drive On. School School is quickly becoming a faded memory. Classmates has helped me remember some though. Favorite teachers - Mr. Young. (The state up north covered on his pull down U.S. map) And the shop teacher that taught small engine shop and electricity. (Can't remember his name, but I owe him a lot) Biggest Crush - In school, Terry Pigg, (but I never told her until recently) and Anita Edwardson (I told her, but it was too late). From our rival school, Sherry Pease. The girl that stole my heart and then used it for a punching bag. Favorite Class - Hands down, JROTC Favorite memories - Where to start? Water ballons from the top of the stairs, the gang crowding into my 69 T-Bird, yelling FREEBIRD at lunch to get the school's radio station to play it, and Sherry asking me to the dance that night at the football game. There are a lot more, but these are some of my favorites. Saddest memory - Having to say goodbye to everone early. My dad retired and we moved during my senior year. I missed sharing graduation and the infamous smokebomb incident because of it. Actually, having to say goodbye at all. I wish I would have been able to keep some of my frinds close. I really could have used the support down through the years, and now it seems that, other than my wife, I've become a loner. I don't mean to sound like a whiner, but It's mostly my own fault. I shut people out a lot.
