Still in close contact with Donald, Melvin and Bruce Quarles from Eastern (1963). Him, Me and Norman (Slack) Anthony (now deceased) met in my freshman year of college. I am truly blessed to have been friends with all these three guys for no less than 40 years. There are too many other names, faces and events to put here, but I remember... Harrison, Morgan, Garnet-Patterson, McKinley, Cardozo, DCTC, The PO, San Miguel, LA (apologies and thanks, Richard & Dana), The Post, The Freep, WVSP, 25 yrs at Cummins. Jazz. Blues. R&B (the REAL old school). Liked the Navy and LOVED the travel. Sometimes think I shoulda stayed in, but didn't. Lotta racism and other BS. Best overseas memories? The Philippines: The beaches. The mountains. The countryside. The stars. The weather. The smells. The people. Bus rides to Olongapo. Manila, Angeles City, Lake Taal. The Block: Vicky at the Zebra, Big Chris at The Harlem. Sailors and Marines in the clubs being cool, having fun, drinking, bragging, screwing around, missing home, and sometimes even thinking deeply.
