David's Story
College
I was working offshore 7 days on and 7 days off and decided that if I wanted to better myself I needed to go to college. Nicholls State offers a program for people working offshore, so my family and I moved to Thibodaux and I enrolled in college. It was tough working away for 7days then coming home and going right to school and still trying to spend time with my family, but it was well worth it. I graduated with a degree in Petroleum Safety, and still work in the Petroleum industry today.
Workplace
I love my job. I work 14 day...Expand for more
s on and have 14 days off. It is like taking a 2 week vacation every month. I can't believe everyone doesn't want to work out here.
Military
I joined the US Navy in 1989 and served for 5 years and 3 months. Weird length of time right? Well I had to sign a 1 year extension to go to the school I wanted. Then after a year and a half or so I went to an advanced school so I had to sign a 3 month extension. I got to see some great things including the beaches of Greece where swim suits are optional. The US Navy... great times had by all! :-)
