David's Story

I was a former Champion Go-kart racer up in Redding, CA before I moved to Paradise Oaks in Citrus Heights, CA. When I arrived, I went to Valley Oak Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. When in school, I was both the football and basketball team. I wasn't perfect in both sports, but I still gave it all. When we played softball in P.E., That's where I shined as I was quite accurate and hit the ball every time (some got me out, but most gave me a single or double) and I was quite fast despite my size. Because of my will to keep going either winning or losing (I didn't really like losing) and unusual personality, most students gave me the nickname "Pikachu". On my free time, I always drew cars that don't exist (yet), as I hoped to be a automotive designer when I grew up. Some students were surprised with my drawings, that they challenged me with drawing cars that do exist (like a Chevrolet Impala or a Volkswagen New Beetle). I was known to be a little troublesome when I didn't want to do something (that why I got no farther than Level 2 at either Mariposa House or Hoffman House in Paradi...Expand for more
se Oaks). I didn't have many friends, Most would only take friends who looked cool, yet I could not become as popular as them. I was very friendly to whoever met me, so I did have some who respected me for what I am and not for what most thought I would not be. I was to Graduate in 2002, but one thing that really pulled me back and that was I was terrible at Government class. For a whole year, I had to work "double-time" on Government class and by June 2003 at age 18, I finally graduated from Valley Oak Academy and Paradise Oaks Group Home to return back to my home in South Sacramento, Ca. Now a days, I live at home and still draw cars and play car racing games, but still chores must be done around my house as well. I ride my bicycle around the city as of now, but soon I drive a car. I already have a Driver's Permit and learning to drive using my mother's 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. It could be a matter of months that I could have my Driver's License (after all, my mom passed in flying colors every year, and she is teaching me everything that she knows) and then I'll also get a car of my own.
