More about David:"I grew up in a postcard of a town on the eastern slope of the Cascade Mountains in Washington. The town of Chelan was my home until the day I graduated from high school in 1964. I moved three hours west to Seattle to eventually graduate from the The Burnley School of Art. I worked in local ad agencies for the first few years and then in 1976 I moved to Orange County, California. I spent the next 34 years living in the cities of Newport Beach and Huntington Beach.
I eventually shifted my career focus from the creative side of agency life to account management. I worked primarily on automotive accounts for mid-sized agencies. In the early 90s I switched to the 'client side' to serve as Marketing Director for a small start-up company. among our target market of car enthusiasts. What an adventure! I would have done it for nothing.
In the late 90s I began doing sales promotions for motorcycle dealerships around the country. This turned out to be a career highlight and it got me back on the creative side of the business as a writer and creative director for the projects I generated. I worked for Harley-Davison dealers and also alll of the import brands during the hey-day of powersports popularity int the U.S.
Health issues began to slow me down. I was treated for leukemia and it went into remission in 2004. Then I lost most of my vision in one eye a year later. I also spent three weeks in the hospital with a serious case of pneumonia which was complicated by a staph infection. I had been a lifetime smoker and that was finally my wakeup call to quit. Shortly after that I became a 'friend of Bill W's and that also improved my quality of life immeasurably.
In 2010 I moved to Portland Oregon for a change of scenery. Little did I know what a beautiful city Portland is! I think I
might stick around for awhile even though it rains more than I would like.
