David's Story

After graduation, I attended Michigan State University's James Madison College and obtained a BA in International Relations in 1982. I also became a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. I have been with the US Dept of State since 1982 and have served in our embassies in New Delhi, Bangkok (twice), Kuala Lumpur, and am now assigned to the US Consulate General in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I met my wife of 17 years, Pimolmas or "Nung", during my first assignment in Bangkok. We have 5 kids from various sources (hers, ours, and adoption), and one grandchild Vararat-28, Parichat-25, Athita-18, Amy-15, and Davey-12. Our favorites things ...Expand for more
to do include camping, off-roading, eating my wife's tremendous Thai food, and going to the kids' basketball games. I have also taught myself some basic auto restoration skills and use them to maintain my 1970 AMC Javelin and have rediscovered the joys of cycling. We will be in Chiang Mai until the summer of 2010 and then who knows where we will end up. I would like to get another overseas assignment, but if that doesn't happen, we look forward to returning to our home in Lanexa, Virginia just outside of Richmond. If you get a chance to travel to Thailand, please be sure to let me know so I can make sure you have a great visit.
