David's Story
I attended Moultrie only in my senior year, being formally a student at Chicora since the third grade. In addition, I helped my father build our house in Mt Pleasant through much of the year. In short I didn't really participate in much at school that year. I did find a much better crop of fellow students than I was used to and the teachers were many times better. I made good grades that year which enabled me to attend the College of Charleston.
From there I went to the Medical College ...Expand for more
of Virginia then to the Med School at U of Illinois followed by surgery training. I ended up by specializing in facial surgery of all types and had a long career in practice. I think often that my year at Moultrie was the key, the turning point, in my life and I now wish I had known my fellow students better than I did. Best wishes to those of us who remain and fond memories to those who didn't make it this far.
