david's Story
Started for the Madison Mustangs football team under coach Escabar. Played defensive nose tackle, right offensive guard. Game I remember the most was the last game of the season against Monroe, final score 0-0. That year we went 5-0-1. Wrote for the school newspaper and ran for class president. Went to Robinson High School, started on Varsity football special teams with Biff Balanger under coach Mann. Lived on MacDill Air Force Base. Father was transferred to Biloxi Mississippi after my freshman year, hated it, missed Tampa. Graduated from Biloxi and joined the Navy after 1 year of playing football for Jefferson Davis Jr. College. In the Navy went through Combat training with the Marines, stationed at Camp Pendleton Oceanside Ca., Camp Schwab Okinawa Japan with 3rd Marine Division, traveled to Tokyo, Guam, Philippines. Transferred to Navy Patrol Squadron VP-48 San Francisco Ca.. Went to Adak Alaska, South Yemen, Kuwait, Okinawa Japan, Misawa Japan, Tokyo Japan, Lebanon, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Involved in hostage rescue attempt during the Iranian Hostage situation. Also flew tactical missions in Somalia, Mogadishu. Served 10 years active duty, recalled for Desert Storm/ Desert Shield. Recalled after 9-11. Iraq. Medically discharge...Expand for more
d June 2006 on my way to Afghanistan. My last command was the 4th Amphibious Assault Battalion, Company "A", 4th Marines, Gulfport SeaBee Base, Gulfport Mississippi. Began college at University of Southern Mississippi, tried walk on for football team, too old :). Lost everything in hurricane Katrina, moved to Hawkeye Iowa, transferred to the University of Northern Iowa, earned a BA in History and I am currently in Graduate school for language/Literature (Speak Russian, Japanese, and Spanish). I work part time as armed security. I plan to graduate, join the Department of Defense, and go to Russia hopefully to teach Russians American History. I'm married with four girls, all college graduates. I still lift and run, and wish I could get back into the military, but working Government Civil Service as a teacher will have to do :). I still follow the Robinson Knights on youtube and on the Robinson web site. Madison and Robinson where the two BEST schools I ever attended and I will never forget. Oh, and my girl friend at Madison and Robinson was Debbie Suarez. Almost forgot, before Desert Storm I was a Federal Law Enforcement Officer (U.S. Border Patrol) stationed in San Diego Ca.
