David's Story
For anyone who cares as to whatever happened to David Gregory (Derby High School class of '73)...since the last day of high school, where Lee Browning was observed to be cleaning out his locker and in doing so, observed to have draped his jock strap atop his head (Hi Lee)...following is a summary of a few things Gregory was up to the past few years. My apology that it reads like a Linkedin resume...because it is. In my defense, it's time to go fishing...not spend a bunch of time writing up something new. Best to All....
"David worked a 37 year career in Aerospace, first at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility as Head of Operations Electronics, then as Interim Head of Operations and finally as the Long Duration Balloon Support Group Lead. He began work at NASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility first as Ultra-Long Duration Balloon Operations Manager then as NASA Balloon Program Missions & Operations Manager and finally as Assistant Chief of the NASA Balloon Program until retirement from NASA in 2021.

nal overflight clearances for NASA sub-orbital balloon missions and inter-agency coordination.
David served as the first NASA Antarctic Long Duration Balloon Campaign Manager with two subsequent polar deployments in advisory support roles. Alongside National Science Foundation, David co-chaired inter-agency management of design and construction of the Long Duration Balloon modular facilities, presently in use at McMurdo, Williams Field, Antarctica.
Prior to NASA ballooning, David worked for GTE Sprint as a Terrestrial Microwave Systems Engineer, having completed systems design of GTE Sprint's 11 GHz terrestrial microwave route from Saint Louis to Cincinnati that was installed on time and in budget. Author of twelve publications and recipient of NASA's Exceptional Achievement Service Medal, various NASA individual and group achievement awards and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. All combined, David's tenure with NASA, GTE Sprint and service in the U.S. Army, both as enlisted and commissioned officer, provides over 40 years of technical, operations and management expertise."
But that's all ancient history. Now, it's fishing, gardening, moving dirt from one pile to another with the Kubota tractor...but most important of all...enjoing time with family and friends.
