David's Story
Wow! What a long strange trip it's been. I was one of the original long hairs at Largo High...one of a handful that wore a wig to conceal it...haha.
After HS, being the devoted anti war hippie I was, I joined the US Army...as a medic! Figured I'd go over to Viet Nam and help save some of my peers. Never made it there...the war ended while I was still in training. Which in retro, was probably a good thing.
After about two years I came home and started at SPJC. At about that same time I bought a guitar, taught myself how to play it, learned a bunch of songs, and six months later got my first gig at a place called Dale's Lounge on Indian Rocks Beach. er the area. Mostly doing a solo act, but at times, as a duo, trio, and with a full band.
I'd have to say one of the coolest parts of my young adult period was moving into the "Old Mars" hotel in Oldsmar with the band "Just Another Rainbow" and/or "Real Eyes". What a good time that was...our closest neighbor was a 1/4 mile away. We threw some monster parties there.
Well, there's a whole lot more to tell, but time eludes me at the moment. I'm hoping I can get back to finish my story later.
