David's Story
Hi everyone! I attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah for a semester then went on a two-year church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington D.C/Maryland area. I returned to BYU, met my wife Kara, started a family (2 boys - Peter and Mark), and then graduated with a degree in Zoology (Pre-Med). Took a job in technology sales and worked for several companies in Utah, California, and then the Seattle area. While in Seattle we had two more boys (Aaron and Owen). Then we made the crazy decision to go to law school. That took us to Thomas M Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. The day before I started law school my wife gave birth to our first daughter (Grace) and three years later another daughter (Meleah). Then we added a dog right before law school finished up. I was licensed as an attorney in Michigan, ran my own practice for three years, and then applied my technology, sales and legal background by taking a job at the State of Michigan in IT sourcing. I did that for two and a half years and then was recruited by Zimmer Biomet (an or...Expand for more
thopedics company) to work for them in IT sourcing, where I am at today. With that job we moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. As to my children, my oldest son served a two year mission in Germany, went out to Utah State University, married a wonderful young lady, and they had my first grandchild - Mallory - we love her a lot. My second oldest son was diagnosed with diabetes as well as a reading and speech disability; diabetes at 20 months and reading/speech disability at 3 years old - he has overcome so many obstacles and can now read well and has good control of his diabetes, he attends a local community college. My third son went to Salvador, Brazil on his mission, learned Portuguese, but was only able to serve 8 of his 24 months before the Covid pandemic cut it short. He came home and went to school for a year, hoping to go back on his mission when things settle down with the pandemic. My other three are still in school - one senior, one freshman, and a 7th grader. And now a second dog. Life has stayed busy and fulfilling with plenty of challenges along the way. Hope you are all doing well!
