David's Story
Life:
The summer of 1984, decided to take a nine week vacation in Western Europe. Took off from Minneapolis, landed in Frankfort, Germany. Took the train down to Athens, Greece. Took the boat to Italy. Back on the trains in Brindsi, Italy all the way up to Holland. Took another boat to Scandinavia. After visiting there, back on the boat to United Kingdom. All overall, visited 14 countries and 40 cities. Flew out of Gatwick Airport back home and landed at Hubert H.

Life has been full of major surgeries and injuries. In 2002, had the removal of my gall bladder the old fashioned way ... also, was fitted for two hearing aids (which I hate wearing). In 2003, as I was walking to the bus stop, my left ankle gave way and I attempted with no success, to break my fall. I ended up in breaking my left ankle and my right hip. In late 2004, when working for the Bureau of Land Management in Wyoming, I received a few compression fractures in my back (T-12). For the time being, I am enjoying retirement.
Mid January 2008 I had cancer surgery (discovered right after Thanksgiving). They removed my spleen and 60% of my pancreas (where the cancer was found). I am now cancer free.
Then late March 2008, I suffered my first (and only, I hope) heart attack. I was having chest pains, a neighbor rushed me to the hospital. They said I had a heart attack there, fell flat on my fa...Expand for more
ce and cracked my nose and had a severe nose bleed (don't remember that). I felt the first two attempts to revive me but the next five and CPR I do not because I was legally dead for 15 minutes. They placed two stents in my Anterior Descending Branch arteries.
Late January 2011 I was told to move to a lower elevation and warmer cliimate. So I moved to Prescott Valley

is 928 759-3679. I live in a two bedroom duplex and anyone that wants to come for a visit, please do so. Give
me a weeks notiice. I am about two hours north of Phoenix and its about 15-20 degrees cooler. Elevation is
5,100 feet. We do get some snow, but it is short lived.
I am thinking of becoming a Big Brother for the organization.
I am slowly improving and received a good check up after my Echocardigram. So, that makes me feel good.
Workplace:
Enjoying retirement, at this time, but I still do my statistics for sports.
Military
Served two years, United States Navy, as a Storekeeper (Supply Division One), on board two ships and seven land stations. While I served in the Navy, received one of the highest awards as an enlisted man, Seaman of the Year, Pacific Fleet for saving the lifes of six crewmembers. The two ships I was on was the USS Juneau LPD-10 and Midway CV-41 (which is now a museum in San Diego, Calfornia, harbor.
