David's Story
Taught school and coached basketball, baseball, golf, track and field for almost 20 years...Illinois, New York, Arizona...played baseball one summer and coached Athletes in Action Basketball another summer in Asia ...Great Experience...also, worked in college administration for ten years. Have been involved in various business ventures the past 22 years...including selling for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury for a couple of those. Had a fun golf business for 12 years in Oklahoma, before selling it and moving to Illinois to be near our grandkids and many of our college friends. Whenever we travel back east...we always try to drive through Canisteo, which stirs up many wonderful memories...seeing where we grew up, attended church, school, sledded, rotary field, the cliffs, the living sign, Tony's Corner store, etc., etc., etc. and seeing how much the trees have grown downtown...time does fly, doesn't it?...My devoted wife, Bernadine, still reminds me that regardless of how many young ladies I "looked" at during those fun high school years, the little cheerleader from Avoca claims she "won." Actually, I am the fortunate one. In August of 2013 we celebrate 50 wonderful years! She has been a true gift from God and a spiritual blessing to our family and friends...the mother of our three wonderful children...and "Nani" to seven grandkids. In fact, for the past three years, we have been day caring our now 3 year old twins of Doug and Liz while they teach school. (We now understand completely why "older" couples don't have babies!) We are both fortunate to be strong and in good health...with nothing more than...Expand for more
some typical aches and pains for people our age. We have been involved in a healthy lifestyle approach the past 11 years that has proven that our bodies are a miraculous creation that will heal themselves, if we fuel them properly...so lots of whole raw foods, water, 15 minutes of sunshine and fresh air everyday, with a little bit of walking/exercise to keep everything functioning properly. I enjoy playing golf, but have been forced to become more of a spectator on the other games I once enjoyed playing so much. We now live about 50 miles east of St. Louis in Centralia, Illinois...most recently recognized as being USA Today's Most Unique High School Mascot. Our son Doug, is an assistant coach for the Centralia "Orphans" Basketball and also coaches the Freshmen Team. The Orphans not only have the national title for best mascot, but are the winningest high school basketball team in the nation, raising their total to 2122 wins. We like the Cardinals...but we LOVE the YANKEES! Finally got to meet Yogi Berra and now own a signed jersey and have a picture with him. I was fortunate to attend the Hall of Fame Induction in Cooperstown for the "GOOSE"...Fun Times. Anyway, if you are ever through this part of the country, stop and see us. If you are on Facebook or Linked In, I do have something fun and interesting to share with you, so just go to either of those and put my name in. As you may know, we are not allowed to leave phone numbers or email addresses in this document, so you will need to communicate with me through one of the other ones. Blessings to all who read this. :) David E Jack
