Linda's Story

After graduation May 1967, I started summer school at NW State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. In the fall of '67, I transferred to Louisiana Tech in Ruston. I lived off campus (when it just wasn't done) with my twin brother, Larry, and our dad who had recently retired from the USAF and was back at Tech for graduate work. After college graduation in March 1971, I replaced a second grade teacher who was unable to finish the spring term at Meadowview Elementary School in Bossier City. I returned the following year to teach a first/second grade combination. At the end of the 1972 school term, I married my husband, David. We met while we were both at LA Tech University. Our honeymoon trip was to Alaska and we stayed! We arrived 13 years after statehood and prior to the Alaska Pipeline construction which was an enviable time to live in Alaska. During the intervening years, we birthed and raised two wonderful children, and lived and worked in four Alaskan communities. After retirement in 1996, we started our own business. We also lived in Sweden for a little under three years starting in 2001. While in Sweden, we attended...Expand for more
the World of Life Bible School in Uppsala. Our last year there we were involved in missionary work. We are now part of a giant network composed of many friends throughout Alaska, Northern California, the rest of the USA and around the world. In 2012, David and I left Alaska to attend the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM) in Redding, California. We decided to relocate after having lived our Alaskan dream for 41 years. I am delighted to say our family relocated with us. Nor Cal - we love it. The wild terrain, below freezing winter temperatures, and Aurora Borealis of dark winter nights in Interior Alaska have been replace with wild terrain, extremely hot summer temperatures and the endless sunshiny days of Northern California. Alaska will always own a huge chunk of my heart but we are now living a new dream in the "lower 48 states". It hardly seems possible that it has been fifty plus years (actually pushing 60 years) since our graduation from high school. Even through the hard times, I have lived a charmed and blessed life and I hope life has treated each of you as kindly as it has me! God bless and hugs, Linda
