David's Story
Life
Elementary School in Longview, WA: (Kessler & Mark Morris -1953-58); then to Chicago in '59 (Reinberg School), then Ft. Worth, TX (Stripling Jr. Hi) until we moved to Melbourne, Australia for a year (1961). Then it was back to Ft. Worth, TX where I attended Arlington Heights High ('61-64). After high school, we moved to Calif. where I attended Univ. of Calif. (Berkeley).
I wrote music for CBS Records in Hollywood during the late sixties, frequented Haight-Asbury while living in the San Francisco Bay Area and spent some time as a part of the subculture of the sixties (the "free-speech movement" at Berkeley started it all). After a stint with the Air Force Reserves during Viet Nam, I went back to college and majored in Theology.
I founded what is now StraightWay, Inc. in 1975. StraightWay (straightway.tc) is a Christian program that offers drug rehab, drug prevention in the public schools, and prison ministry.
I have six children by my first wife (5 are grown) and the younger 3 were adopted by my wife Jennifer (pictured in profile photo). I then adopted her 2, and we've had one between us (now 12 yrs. old). Luke, 22, is living in S. Africa and got marrie...Expand for more
d last year. He has a band & teaches, but music is his first love. Two more attend Texas State (Jordan is on the varsity basketball team), and another, who turned 18 is living in Ft. Worth. So, just Faith, 16, and Hollis, 12, are at home with us now ... in our big house ... we might turn it into a boarding house -ha. Jenny (my wife) is also an alumnus of Arlington Heights, only just a few graduating classes later (ha-like 20).
The story of our little "Miracle Boy" Hollis is linked on our family web page, and, if you're interested in the whole story of his healing from a terminal condition, you can preview and order the book I wrote, called "Let Him Die!" at glycotools.com/products.asp?p=242 ... You can see and learn more about our family, travels and work at our home page (kirschkes.com).
We just celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the ministry I started, and so I decided to finally get the credentials for what I've been doing all these years (LOL)--- I'm studying (in my spare time) for a M.A. in Biblical Counseling.
Anyway, that's all folks! I'd loved to hear from old friends. Please feel free to email me or call me (I'll send you my cell phone no. via email).
