David's Story
After school I hung around CF for about 19 years, working at UNI, playing softball, volleyball, and golf. In '80 I met the love of my life, Jean, and in '83 we married. I actually met her playing softball at UNI, for the "Mean Green Machine."
We both decided we wanted to look for work in the Pacific NW, after numerous trips to Salem, OR to see her sister (and several of my relatives in Seattle and Portland). Jean was the first to land a job, so we moved to Lewiston, ID, then later to Moscow, ID, where we both worked for the University of Idaho. Jean, then landed a job at WSU Vancouver (she's the Registrar), so shuffled off to Vancouver, WA, and have been there ever since. I eventually found work in Portland, on the campus of Portland State, as a repair carpenter. I've been at College Housing Northwest for 12 years, the last 5 as a locksmith.
Due to gimpy legs, I decided to put up my softball spikes, at the tender age of 45, and have since stuck to golf. Jean and I play about once a week during the warmer months. During the winter, the courses remain open, but finding a dry day on the weekend is rather difficult.
