My Bio: CSM DAVID J. LITTERAL Command Sergeant Major 10th Combat Support Hospital Fort Carson, Colorado CSM Litteral, son of George and Mildred Litteral, was born in Cincinnati, OH on 21 July 1962. After graduating from Loveland High School in 1980, he attended Basic Training and AIT as a Combat Medic. CSM Litteral's assignments include: 11th Medical Company, 1st Medical Group, Fort Hood, TX; 421st Medical Co, Nellingen, Germany; 571st Medical Detachment, Ft Carson, CO; 377th Medical Co, Taegu, Korea; HQ's 4th ID (M), Ft Carson, CO; Cleveland Military Entrance Processing Station, Cleveland, OH; DCSOPS, 18th Medical Command, Yongsan, Korea, United States Army School of Aviation Medicine, Fort Rucker, AL, the Department of Combat Medic Training, Fort Sam Houston, TX, and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY. Successfully deployed to Iraq as Command Sergeant Major of Medical Task Force 10 responsible for the training, accountability, professional growth and development of Soldiers assigned to level three medical facilities south of Baghdad. CSM Litteral's education includes: Basic Medical Specialist, Advanced Medical NCO, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic and Advanced NonCommissioned Officer Courses, EMT Basic and Paramedic Training. He is a graduate of the First Sergeants' Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 53 and the Command Sergeant Major Preparation Course. g American High School Students. In October, 2004, he was awarded the Sergeant Major Larry L. Strickland Excellence in Education Leadership Award by the Association of the United States Army. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education through Wayland Baptist University, graduating with honors. In 2007 he earned the Bob Ross Memorial Award from Wayland Baptist University for academic achievement among students majoring in Management. He is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Military History at Austin Peay State University. CSM Litteral's awards and decorations include: Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal (4th Award), Joint Service Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), and Overseas Ribbon (Numeral 4). He also wears the Senior Aviation Badge, the Expert Field Medical Badge, and the Gold German Army Shooting Medal (Shutzenschnuer). In 2000, he was inducted into the Order of Military Medical Merit. CSM Litteral and his wife, the former Charlene Austin, have been married for 29 years and have three children, David, Charles (SGT, US Army), and Nadine.
