One of David's favorite quotes is:""A word to the wise isn't necessary. It's the stupid people who need advice." --Bill Cosby If you don't know where you are going, any road will take you there – George Harrison When I felt like I needed a punching bag, I discovered a punch-line works just as well! – David Lloyd ...Laws...are for the Lawless... 1 Tim 1:9 You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink, but you can give him salt and make him thirsty. – Dick Belsly If you don't have anything nice to say, just point and laugh. – Betty Lloyd Aging is all about mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. – Dad (William Lloyd) ~ I've been told I need to explain this next quote. President Regan went horse-back riding with Queen Elizabeth. Her Majesty was mortified when the horse she was riding made a long loud gaseous noise. In her shock, she said "excuse me." Regan, wanting to ease the situation with humor said.... "That's O.K. your majesty, I thought it was the horse." – Ronald Regan ~ Praise in public; correct in private. – David Lloyd Pray not for lighter burdens, but for stronger backs. – Theodore Roosevelt I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is to try to please everyone. – Bill Cosby Touch the code, break the code. – anonymous programmer I happen to know that if you drop a tomato and brick out of the attic window, they will both hit the car at the same time! – unidentified daughter It wasn't me! – Rocket Man ~ My Dad's first cousin, Lowell Lloyd, was one of the first people ever to earn a PhD in nuclear physics. His Bachelor's degree was in chemistry. He pursued a Master's deg...Expand for more
ree in metallurgy. His father, (my great uncle) was the head of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, and was one of FDR's regional campaign managers during FDR's third campaign for the Presidency of the United States. Lowell Lloyd was one of FDR's "whiz kids" who kept the president informed regarding the top secret nuclear research during WWII. Lowell earned his PhD in nuclear physics during the time he was working for the Manhattan Project. Consequently his doctoral thesis was classified, and he was not at liberty to discuss it. After the war, Lowell Lloyd was one of the original team of scientists who established the Fermi National Accelerator. My Dad likes to repeat his cousin's explanation for his PhD that he was not allowed to discuss. He said, well first I got my BS (and we all know what that is). Then I got my MS (more of the same), and finally I got my PhD. Only a few privileged people know what that means (piled higher and deeper). – Lowell Lloyd (my second cousin) ~ I can't bear to throw good food away, so I put in in the refrigerator until it goes bad. Then I throw it away! – My Grandmother, Mary (Harris) Butler My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die. – Inigo Montoya (William Goldman, 1987, The Princess Bride) You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.– Inigo Montoya (William Goldman, 1987, The Princess Bride)". More about David:"Only God possesses perfection, and He lovingly chose not to curse others with it. My relationships with God and my family are most important to me. I am interested in everything, but I focus intensely on one thing at a time. I enjoy astronomy, chemistry, physics, math, logic, programming, music, learning other languages, bicycling, hiking, camping, photography, electronics, carpentry, wood carving, sketching, painting and a lot more things I haven't thought of yet. I'm good at everything, exceptional at nothing, and always a little dissatisfied. Some people are know-it-alls who think they know everything, but I actually do know everything. However, if you believe everything I say, then you are a fool, and my advice to you is to go construct your own reality, because this one is taken! In other words, think for yourself. Question everything. Trust your own ability to learn, to understand, and to draw your own conclusions. Always be willing to admit when you are wrong. I try, but I don't always succeed.".
