David's Story
Life
After 21 yrs in construction I put my self through retraining for a career change. I spent 6 years at Science Applications Internaional as a systems specialist/administrator. In spite of being caught in the RIF that happened as a result of the dot-bomb I was able to spend the next year consulting and stayed busy until I was picked up by San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union. After 3+years with them I went to work at San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union for the next 6 years. I was employed by Trace3, a technical services provider, and in a contract position at Qualcomm. I am currently retired.
I have been married 41+ yrs and we have fraternal twin boys. One working as a commis at Stone Bistro and the other working in construction. My wife works for the adult education system.

The next 6 years I was with SAIC. Started out in the Small Systems Factory building Unix boxes and then wound up on the PacMedNet project for most of the remainder of my employment. I served as a Systems Spec./Admin.
After nearly nine years as a network administrator for a couple of credit unions, I quit my current position so that I could take a two year contract position that placed me with Qualcomm.
Update: I have returned to San Diego Metropolitan Credit Union and to my previous position. The Qualcomm contract was terminated early leaving me available to return to SDMCU when my replacement there moved on to greener pastures. Five more years at SDMCU, then I was forced to retire due to having to increase my dialysis treatment time.
