David's Story
Life
Let's see..... went to college at S.F. State University for a few years after graduating Foothill. Decided that I would enjoy being a member of the Teamsters Warehouseman Union Local 860 in San Francisco and I worked that job until 1984. During those years I lived in Richmond, CA and I spent alot of my free time with my friends. My friends and I were lowriders and our car club was The Moonlighters. I had a series of three 1966 Chevy Impala coupes each being a bit nicer than the previous one. I learned how to work on the cars from body work to engine rebuilding to installing hydraulics to make the cars lift up and down while cruising. When my Teamster Warehouseman job ended due to the company closing it's doors, I began my career as an industrial factory maintenance mechanic. My experience with cars gave me enough knowledge to enter this line...Expand for more
of work and then I learned more and more on the job. I learned industrial electricians skills as well as all the mechanical stuff like hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, etc. I changed workplaces to expand my opportunites for advancement and eventually switched over from being an hourly worker to a salaried management position as a maintenance supervisor at a cast-iron foundry in Oakland, CA. I got married in 1980 and divorced in 2000. I moved back to Los Angeles in 2000 and I live here in a nice home in West LA. I have one 23 yr. old daughter from my marriage and she lives in the guest house by the swimming pool in my backyard. I'm retired from the maintenance work now and I only wrench on my motorcycle. I'm into vegetarian cooking, yoga, martial arts and improving myself spiritually and physically. I love music as much as ever.
