David's Story

I graduated from Morrin High School in 1966 and went to the University of Calgary. I graduated with a BSc degree in chemistry in 1970, and after a bit of work, a second BSc in computer science in 1974. I worked in the IT sector of the oil industry for 35 years or so, mostly in Calgary but also in Houston, London, Fort McMurray, and other places where oil companies have computers...Expand for more
. In 2007 I retired to Canmore with my wife Marg to enjoy mountaineering and skiing in the Rockies, plus trekking in the Alps, the Andes, the Himalayas and anywhere else they have big mountains. In 2015 we moved to Vancouver Island to enjoy a life more oriented toward hiking, kayaking, and gardening. After a while bodies do start to wear out, and replacement parts are expensive.

How to bloodily murder a beet. That's not a meat cleaver, it's a Japanese vegetable chopping knife. Don't touch the edge because it's as sharp as a straight razor and then you will bleed. A number of people have learned the

Today's crop of tomatoes. I didn't know that tomato plants could grow taller than me, and produce more tomatoes than we can eat, but apparently here on Vancouver Island they can.
We're going to Bruce & Fern's wedding in Calgary today. Marg is going to be Best Man and Arlo is wearing his formal black bow tie as Dog of Honour.
