David O.'s Story

My family and I still live in San Angelo, Texas, which is approximately 90 miles southwest of Abilene. I retired on June 27, 2015 after working for over thirty years in federal law enforcement. I am the proud Father of three boys or young men. My oldest son is Omar Javier, who served two tours of the second Gulf War with the Army's 4th Infantry Division out of Fort Hood, TX. Omar used his well-deserved G.I. bill to graduate from Texas A&M in San Antonio in December 2013. My second son is David O. Jr. David O. Jr. is works at the local Best Buy store and is the Manager of the Geek Squad. My youngest son is Carlos Eduardo. Carlos earned his Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts in 2013. Carlos has signed up to serve his country for five years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Carlos graduated from boot camp Marine Corps Recruit Deport (MCRD) in San Diego, CA and Camp Pendleton on November 6, 2015. Carlos has received his honorable discharge from the Marines and is back home from Iwaukuni, Japan, where he was last stationed. He is planning to use his GI Bill to attend college. Dad passed away on May 25, 2011 at Laredo Medical Center. Mom passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Baptist Memorial's House of Hope in San Angelo. I miss them both immensely. My wife and I traveled to Europe for a two week vacation during July of 2013. We vacationed in Europe with some friends of ours from Yuma, Arizona. We visited Paris, the Louve, the Eiffel Tower, Arco de Triunfo, Notre Dame, Chateau de Versailles, traveled though the country of Luxembourg, took a boat ride on the Rhine River, visited Frankfurt and Heidelberg in Germany, Lucerna and Zurich in Switzerland, traveled through the small country of Liechtenstein on our way to Innsbruck, Austria, visited Venic...Expand for more
e, Padua, Florence, Rome (toured the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, fought in the Coliseum (just kidding, making sure you are paying attention), saw the leaning tower of Pisa, drove through Genoa, Italy where Christopher Columbus was born, visited Costa Azul, visited the island of Capri, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Toledo, and Madrid in Spain. We had a great time and saw many places I had only seen and read about in books. The most beautiful Catholic Church I visited was The Cathedral In Toledo, Spain. I am back in the gym doing my workouts. My wife and I have also been walking around our neighborhood and I am also starting to jog again. I jog and walk around our neighborhood. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME! ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD! ✝️ 💐🙏🏾📿 David O. Ramirez - No. 12 (Football) & No. 27 (Baseball) - (my two favorite sports and uniform numbers). I had great Coaches and teammates while I played at HHS. Our fans also kept us fired up and ready to play hard for dear HHS. Study, practice hard, play hard, know your position/positions/job well, be a good teammate/co-worker/friend/citizen and thank God for everything he gives you. He is "The Way, The Truth and The Life", not "The Light", as I mistakenly wrote on a very good friend's obituary. Just my two cents worth. Go Horns Go. Fight Horns Fight. 🤘🏽 May God, his beloved Jesus Christ bless you and your family always if you are reading this. Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph please intercede on our behalf. Four songs I listen to a lot on my Spotify account are: 1) West Texas Rain by Wade Bowen, 2) Who I Am by Wade Bowen, 3) My Love for you Remains by Mac Powell and 4) She's Like Texas by the Josh Abbott Band. Listen to all four and especially the words to each when you have time. Updated on October 28, 2020
