David's Story
I don’t know about the rest of you but I wish everyone would upload pictures of you when you were in high school. That is the way you are remembered if we have no contact with you now. I remember very few names. I attended three different high schools from Texas to New Hampshire. Also, if there is anything we did together, mention it. Help jog an old mans memory 😂 I grew up in Wichita Falls and went to school there second grade through eighth grade, then we moved to New Hampshire for a year and then back to Wichita for my sophomore year and half of my Junior year. I finished up at Cooper in Abilene in 1970. Cooper folks may remember my old purple 49 Dodge pickup truck I drove or the white 65 Ford convertible I drove sometimes when I could borrow it from my folks. I was not part of the in crowd at Cooper, but I believe I may have been known by some of them. My sister, Deonna Galbraith, and her family still live in Abilene and are very active in the community. Vicki and I visit them as often as time allows. Gary is President of AIM Bank. Because I was just at Cooper for a year and a half my memory of classmates still have them 18 years old and only a few by name. I wish this website posted everyone’s year book picture on their page.
Although I have done many things career wise, I returned to college at the age of 38 and began teaching at the age of 40. I taught in Stamford for nine years and then went into adminis...Expand for more
tration after obtaining my M.Ed. and principal certification. I spent my last 15 years as superintendent of schools. Life has been a great adventure. Thank God He continues to mold and shape us our entire life. We have now retired in Gorman, Texas as of May 1, I play golf as often as I can. Yes, I know it must come as a shock to those that really knew me that I actually taught school and became a principal and a superintendent. Stranger things have happened!
I have been married for 46 years to Vicki whom I discovered in Omaha, Nebraska which is where I moved immediately after graduation. We have two wonderful children. Josh, who is married to Raegan. They have gifted us with two grandsons. Jake who is 14 and Lucas who is 7. Josh and family live in Wylie, Texas. Josh works for State Farm. Our daughter Adri is An Assistant Principal at Singley Academy in Irving and she and her partner Melinda Have two of the most beautiful twin babies, now 3, a boy and girl. We are very proud of them both!
I know most people with whom I went to school will be surprised by my profession, but I love working in public education. I would love to hear from any past classmates or teachers.
I have been so blessed all my life. God does work in mysterious ways and and leads us down paths we never thought we'd walk to do the things He would have us do. It just takes some folks a little longer to listen to His voice, like me.
