David's Story

Life The dork I've always been got out of Montreal (dad's new job), finished high school somewhere! (All there is to say, really!) Refused at the Conservatory in Violin, I tried in percussions, and they took me!!! Well, then I graduated after 6 years, and OOPS! I end up playing drums on a cruise ship! 3 years after, I'm Band Leader on the very ship I started on! And still sailing! So far, I've done absolutely nothing I wanted to do, but ended up doing more of anything else on my list! Ah, well, as John Lennon said: Life is what happens while you're waiting for the answer... Eventually, I'll end up getting married (to whom?!?), having kids, and establish myself somewhere cozy and being happy! Somehow I'm happy where I am, but there's always something inside nagging me... School Sec. II & III in Pierre-Laporte High music concentration (Violin)! Sec. IV & V In De Rochebelle High, recorded an LP with the music program there; participated in 5 of the 6 recordings! CEGEP Sainte-Foy Music Program, 3 years, Percussions this time! In 1991 to 1996, Conservatoire De Musique De Québec, Percussions, second prize in 1996! Various drum lessons with various teachers, and also teaching drums to kids before ending on Cruise Ships! Workplace Voilà! I'm back on land, after 7 years at sea, and this time, for good! I'm now the agent that used ...Expand for more
to book me on ships, working at my alma mater, ProShip Entertainment! In fact, I'm not exactly "booking" musicians, I'm "recruiting" them! I've got two adorable kittens, Azraël and Pirouline - brother and sister - the kittens born of my nephew's cat! ;-) It stays in the family!!! I'm settled now in the west part of Montreal, near work, and it's a nice view of the Oratory! I love it, and so do my cats! I'll probably start playing again once my two nasty cases of tendonitis in the elbows start getting better!!! Military I was part of the Naval Reserve Band of the HMCS Montcalm in Quebec City from february 25, 1991 (Ironically, the tail-end of the Gulf War) to December 1998! I played drums, electric Bass and bugle. Contrary to what a lot of people think, I didn't join the military to be sent to the frontlines of a major conflict - besides, Canadian Forces are mostly assigned to UN peace missions, so... - I joined during my studies in order to pay for my scholarship fees and to have a bit more of a life, financially speaking! That was a great job, a good experience, and I don't regret one second doing it! Of course, the Reserve ain't like the Regular Force, it's not like it's a career - I honestly wouldn't know if I'd make a career of it - but it's a good job that won't quit on you, and you can also learn something out of it!
