David's Story
I hope that my friends from Xenia remember me as the fun-loving guy who loved going to rock concerts, working out at the gym and California dreaming.
26 years later, I am still the same at heart, I love music, especially classic rock, still have a membership at Gold's Gym and plan to retire in California if the left wing wackos don't totally destroy the economy there first :)

I always wanted to be a DJ when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea. As it turns out, they were right. I am so glad I heeded their advice. DJ pay blows and everything is controlled by program manager's via computer.

My favorite way to blow off steam is to take my dog out the dog park for a run and also a swim in the lake.

I was never really much of a risk taker in high school, but I made the exception when concert tickets went on sale during the weekdays...of course I cut class to get to the box office early :)

The New Testament is the greatest collection of books ever assembled. The wisdom, insight and inspiration contained in those 27 books changed my life and continue to amaze me on a daily basis.

Apart from Ohio, I have also lived in Texas & Indiana and currently reside in the Sunshine state of Florida, the 2nd greatest state in the union. I moved here because I detest cold winters and I love the warmth of the sun.

The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my Dad, because he died suddenly and expectedly in 1995.

While I enjoy music, sports and movies, my obsession is with the financial markets. I am a futures & commodities trader & trainer. This allows me to work from home which is a beautiful thing.
The markets are a fascinating study of the human emotions of greed and fear.
Never believe those who say the markets are not predictable. There is a majestic ebb and flow that can be tracked and traded on a daily basis.

Life on the other hand, is not always as predictable as the financial markets. The people who come in and out of our lives never ceases to amaze me as some remain and others fall by the wayside.
Remember, you will mirror the five people you associate with the most. Pick your Circle of Five well and you will indeed prosper and enjoy greater happiness in life. Careless choices will no doubt lead to setbacks, pain and mediocrity.
Happiness is indeed an inside job. If you entrust your happiness to another human being, you are in for a rough ride.
Discover your passion and pursue it with all diligence. Doing what you love will attract like minded people into your life. Settling for less will likewise attract those who have done the same.

ey now? Are you surprised or shocked? Do you celebrate their success? Are you empathetic to those who have failed?
Looking back, I am amazed by some and saddened by others. The ones with so much potential include a successful doctor and also an amazing lawyer, but others struggle with alcohol and staying out of prison.
Those we expected to be average or less in life have often blossomed into wonderful parents and pillars in their communities. Life is indeed a strange mystery at times.

While time no doubt marches on, my sense of fashion has remained as constant as my taste in music. Just as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Pink Floyd are the greatest bands of all-time, so it is with Levis jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops. Why improve on perfection :)

I share my home with my dog Fibonacci, which I find to be quite relaxing and stress free. He is part German Shepherd, part Yellow Lab, but not as big as either of those breeds, so I suspect he has another part in there too :)

I always hear people say that if they had a chance to do anything differently that they wouldn't change a thing. I think that is rubbish. Honestly, you wouldn't do anything differently? That is such a load of crap!
If I had a chance to do three things differently:
1) I would have kept my focus on my grades instead of trying so hard to fit in with others - - This simply delayed the inevitable which is covered under #3.
2) Attended my Dad's retirement dinner instead of thinking that my job at the time was more important...Little did I know that my Dad would be gone less than a year later.
3) Taken the time to realize that I was always born to be self-employed and gifted with the ability to turn well-researched information into a career....I cannot undo #1 & #2, but I am now living #3 and life is good :)

My first job was at Bonanza Steak House making 2.85 an hour under a subminimum minors clause in 1981. After 30 days, I was bumped up to minimum wage at $3.35. Lousy pay aside, I loved that job as several of my best friends also worked there. It was a great time.

A childhood memory that I will never forget is April 3, 1974. Like so many others in Xenia, that was a dividing line through our otherwise carefree childhood. That day disrupted our household in every way in spite of the fact that our house was spared the devastation of an F5 twister.
My dad was a State Farm Insurance agent and while that may not have been the worst occupation to have on that day, it was certainly in the top 5. Compounded by his office being left in shambles and my sisters having to be bussed over to schools in Beavercreek, that fateful day is forever etched in my psyche, so much so that each year when that day arrives, I am instantly transported back to our front yard where we watched a blackened sky turn deadly over the city of hospitality.
