David's Story

I decided Iowa winters were too cold so moved back to Florida in June 2017. Living in Port Charlotte by the Peace River just off of Harborview Blvd. Feeling warm! :-D I am living in Newton, Iowa near Des Moines and about 30 miles south of Marshalltown. Moved here in May of 2015 and enjoy being back in Iowa. I worked as a Security Officer for Osceola County. I retired in April of 2009. I retired from a local ministry in Englewood in 1999 after 23 years. I am President of Good News of Christ, Inc. and still involved in ministry and writing through it. I am married to Janet (Hill). We met in College and married in 1964. We have two grown children John (1965) and Karen (1967). I went to Flora High School in Flora, Illinois for three years 1958 - 1961. I lettered in football and track. I also sang in a boys Octet (8 guys). Gary Knight and I sang Bass. Several names on the list are familiar to me. all, basketball and ran track. I worked most of the year part-time at Zeno's Pizza. I played intramural basketball and AAU basketball. Some of the players I remember were: Mark Speas, Dick Westburg, Kent Wilcox, Gary Mellows, Paul ???, Larry ???. Jerry Gazaway was a good friend and Bill Knack. I had stoped my membership to Classmates for awhile and have just rejoined since I have moved back to Iowa. I recognize some of the names on the 1962 Marshalltown list but recollections are fuzzy. Just thought this would be a neat thing to do for this year. I just joined in July 2008. I'm still trying to figure out how this site works. I was also in the French club and did drama: Our town and The man as I recall. I attended Lincoln Christian College from 1962 to 1965 and 1969 to 1973. I received a B.A degree in 1972 and an M.A. degree in 1973. I livedin Florida since 1973. Moved back to Iowa May 1st, 2015. I love being retired. If my name rings any bells let me know.
