David's Story
After FLHS I attended American University and studied political science and history, I received a BA in 1970 and traveled through Europe and the Middle East for almost a year ('70-'71) before going to law school at Case Western Reserve University (in Cleveland, Ohio), from which I graduated with a JD in 1974.
I married right after law school and moved immediately to Washington, D.C., where I started my legal career as a U.S. government lawyer (with the U.S. Civil Service Commission).
I became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C., in 1976 and left after 5 years ('81) to go into private practice with a law firm. I stayed with that law firm for 11 years (making partner in just over 2 years), watching it grow from 7 to 17 lawyers. In 1993, I started a new law firm with a friend, and I have been practicing with that firm ever since -- we now have a staff of 5 lawyers in addition to myself and my law partner. My primary field is civil rights and employment law, and I try cases and handle appeals in federal courts all over the country. I also handle criminal and personal injury cases, as well as security clearance matters. In addition, I represent FBI agents in shooting inspections and DOJ Inspector General inquiries
On the personal side, I remarried in 1985 and have three children -- all girls (ages now almost 23, 30, and 32). We lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland, just across the street from Washington, D.C., until 2007 when we separated, and I moved to downtown Washington. My second wife died in 2010 - so I'm a widower, and now that my last girl is graduated from college, I'm a real "empty-nester' as well. Presently, I'm living in Bethesda, Maryland.
Life has been generally good for me -- with some obvious bumps along the way. I only hope it continues in this same general direction -- with style and grace!

a source of joy is that I continue to see old friends from Fair Lawn. Three summers ago I had a great evening of "catch-up" with Jay Sude when I was out in Denver, Colorado on business, and I am in continuous touch with him now by phone and email, and saw him when I travel to LA last spring to visit two of my daughters. I get together with Neal Hirsch, Arthur Poster, Stuart Solomon, Richie Cohen, and Les Rosenstein (with their respective wives) on a more-or-less regular basis -- last time in Chicago for one of our periodic reunions -- that time on the occasion of all of our 65th birthdays. Also, most of us met up over the last few years at the wedding of Neal's daughter and at the wedding of Arthur's daughter. I've also seen Steve Ludlow when he visited his son down here in Washington, and I spoke with Steve Melzer within the last year. Most recently, I've been speaking with Janet Levine, whom I located thanks to the reunion planning, and I've gotten together with her a few times now. Also, I've reestablished my friendship with Billy Pollack and I've seen him a few times when he plays dates in the Washington area, or otherwise comes to D.C.
Finally, I want wish all members of the FLSA Class of '67 well on their journeys through life! I had a great time at our 50th reunion last October and I trust everyone who attended did as well! I'm in the reunion memories book, so if anyone comes through Washington, please let me know. I'd love to have a drink with you. I had a drink and dinner with Lois Blankstein in November when she and her husband were in D.C., and I had dinner with Wendy Wygant in March 2018 when she came to visit one of her children who lives in the D.C. area. Most recently (Spring, Summer and Fall of 2018) I've been visiting with Jay Sude at his new home on Florida's Gulf Coast. We have had a grand time on each occasion!
