David's Story
Life
Dave Sharp is Managing Partner of Sharp Consulting Group LLC; a Seattle-based, full-service marketing consulting firm.
Sharp consults, coaches, plans and creates strategic alliances/partnerships throughout the U.S. with Fortune 500 corporations, global advertising/public relations agencies, media groups, government and non-profit organizations.
Dave has more than 25 years experience leading marketing initiatives with some of the worlds best marketers:including US Bank, Campbell Soup, Caterpillar, Ford, Paccar, Airborne Express, Dominos Pizza, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Starbucks and Eddie Bauer, among others.
Daves background includes work on the client-side with Caterpillar and Armstrong; as well as Senior Management positions in major national and global advertising agencies (Sharp Hartwig, Cf2GS, Bozell Worldwide and FCB); and internet and media groups (Aptimus and Belo NW).
Dave has a long track record of helping Washington State and local governments, corporations, associations and non-profit organizations that are involved in complex and sometimes high profile public policy issues. He has extensive experience in strategic communications and communication planning in both the public and private sectors.
He also has experience working with top levels of local, county and state governments. Clients have included the Washington Education Association (WEA) Washington Forest Protection Association (WFPA), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Evergreen Partnership, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Company (KKR), Port of Seattle, and Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

Dave has developed marketing strategies, plans and supporting materials to help both large and small not-for-profit clients achieve their long-term and short-term marketing goals. His not-for-profit client experience includes work with Pacific Science Center; Woodland Park Zoo; NW Trek; Seattle Opera; Seattle Art Museum; The Giraffe Project; International Snow Leopard Trust; King County Sexual Assault Resource Center; ChildrenÂs Hospital & Regional Medical Center; Virginia Mason Hospital & Medical Center; Group Health Cooperative; American Lung Association; American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; Sierra Club; and the Wilderness Society. Additionally, Dave has helped plan major fund raising campaigns for some of the regions most visible organizations including Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Art Museum, Pacific Science Center and ChildrenÂs Hospital & Regional Medical Center.
Dave earned his Bachelors degree in Marketing from Bradley University, Peoria Illinois. He received his Masters degree in Advertising from the College of Communications, University of Illinois. He has served on a number of boards including: American Advertising Agency Association, Mutual Advertising Agency Network, Seattle Library Foundation Marketing Advisory Board, Washington Tourism Marketing Advisory Board. He is a member of Marketing Communications Executives International (MCEI), Northwest Development Officers Association (NDOA), Executive Alliance, Northwest Entrepreneur Network, Generous Books and Solutions for Good.
Dave is married to Chris Sharp, a Peabody Award winning journalist (MacNeil Lehrer News Hour, CNN, etc.). Chris is an accomplished artist and blues guitar musician. The Sharp's have two daughters.
