David's Story

Author/singer/songwriter maried living in California. Now in Working Group reformed after 45 years INTERVALS. Your KLCVIers may remember ANDY Camp, ESA LEHTI who have helped make this happen. go HISTSCAPE.COM to learn more. F R E E music. Loved KLCVI but not learning. My first year 64, my last 69. Mr. Mallette didn't particularly like me. I liked 11 and 12 so much I repeated them. Or, was I kicked out to work in the mine and drive my 59 Ford repeatedly to Tomstown. Anyway by 67 and playing Drums with Andy Camp's group The Intervals I was to be cornered by a groupie some say. With Forbes (Carl, now deceased) and Leahy by my side we walked the halls to court once a week during an excellent year of 68. By 69 I was in a family way. I somehow got serious and graduated to be quickly married for the first time. Before that my years at KLCVI were highlighted by causing a 2 hour History class of 68 to be cancelled, Garvin’s class the day the Principal Mr. Marlette sent me packing by laying a strip of rubber from my tires outside the open windows. I remember the applause when I returned in fall 68. ask John Aubrey if he remembers my imitation of Garvin. "All right I want it quiet in here!", the chalk lines on the board, and the pecking at the glasses with the finger. Office and out, and then screeching tires. Oh, well never recorded the song called "Teenage Days". I will maybe someday. I had my family, one son Wayne. That was 69 working as a spray painter in the suburbs of Toronto. Recession and I then returned to Northern College in 71. There I excelled, Deans list and Honors diploma in computers. I remember Brian Hamilton grabbing my arm and spinning me around on the street in KL and saying, "How did you do it Simmons". Never did get any respect from Brian. After that it was the 3 months and out at Northern B...Expand for more
ell, then Owen Sound, Don Mills, New market, Aurora, and Keswick all in Southern Ontario. So now in TO the focus was computers and skiing. No details here, but the days in Canada ended when I took a boat across Lake Ontario. My 2nd life and wife led me to Columbus Ohio, that was 78 and then to Denver in 82. Lots of computer jobs culminating in Aerospace as a computer specialist. Martin was nice but the shuttle blew up. I got smart and ran my own companies and got back into music in around about way. I started Power Leagues in Bars. It was 8-Ball and was a great tax write off for the other half income, until that ended with another Big D. I got recognized for Karaoke, listen to Pokumon Song on Canadian Celtic Cowboy for that one. After more almost situations with more interesting women and more songs it was the Homeless years. Loved the Morrison song lyrics, "Never been so broke that I couldn't leave town". Oh yes I returned a couple of times to find that Love from former KLCVI friends like the Legendary Carl Forbes and Mike Leahy and others, but some were not very understanding. They were family. Now before that return though I had made the most of credit and money from disappearing assets to finally do what I do best MUSIC. Yes, that brought an Angel into my life. I currently live in The Bay area of San Francisco. I am a dual Can/USA type who loves both countries equally. My songs indicate that I hope. I missed all the reunions with you but I'll make it up to you all by conveying more info individually to you all. Currently working with former band members from 1967-9 on the Movie Screenplay "Finding David". Andy Camp and Esa Lehti and I are recreating our 60's sound on an Album Soundtrack soon to play in your Area. Hopefully the Movie as well. As you can see there are many reasons why I love this Classmates site. David.
