David's Story
Life
Let the good times roll I said. So I moved to Reno in '73 & started tending bar at the "Club Cal-Neva". Met a cute little lady named Patti and a year later we got married. Have two gorgeous daughters, (Hilari-28) & (Cori-26) who are living close to us in Sacramento area. I feel very lucky! They've got good jobs, drug free, hooked up with nice guys, and are healthy! We spent 15 years in Reno (casino jobs) and then moved to Las Vegas for a few years (food & beverage mgmt.) but returned to Reno because it was way too damn hot down there for me. Finally had to say 'Adios' to the wild & crazy life style and moved to Citrus Heights, Ca (Sac), got my R.E. lic. and enjoyed a long career buying, selling, and managing rental property. Lifestyle now is somewhat laid back compared to the last 35 yrs but stay semi active with various things....Well, I could go on 'n on but I'll just leave you with this little limerick I wrote for a buddy of mine a few years back which now relates real close to me. It's called "Don't Get On If You Don't Know The Way Off" (which means: Don't get on my case if you don't know when to stop) *****
Gettin' older in life is really a gas
hair's gettin' longer but you still got some class.
And a shooter of Schnapps for your achin' ol back
goes great with a Bud for a late night snack.
Eyes get a bit blurry but your teeth are okay
'cause they're stuffed in a jar tucked safe away.
Your friends will still call & yeh, you've got plenty
But it's the same 'ol sh_ _, "Hey, Can I bum a twenty?"
And work hell, it's over, you've done your fair share
Doin' this, doin' that, but nothin' too rare.
You've been awful damn lucky, life's been pretty fair
But hey, it don't really matter, just ask Hippie Jer"

.....and he was right! But do it again?........H-h-e-l-l-l-l NO! The closest I'd come to that is listening to 'Steely Dan' sing it. I'm sure you know the tune. It definately was a spiritual experience though. School mems?: Boc's 4 lunch, almost daily! Cruzin' Yaw's on friday nights. "Sam's Billiards" got me through the real tough times, but it cost me a girl. 'Richard Cormack', the 'Gaylord' bros. Dave Bunton, Tom Fallon (God rest his sole) were some of the best 'shooters' around. Snow Car rides through Fernhill Park at midnight with Artie Walters, Wilson, Watkins in Arties 1957 Chevy Convt. What a RIDE!! And watching 'Chester Lui' burn rubber for 4 BLOCKS right in front of school in his brand new '67 Chevelle 427-425 hp powerhouse that made you feel like you were right on the starting line at 'Delta Park'. Ooooohhh, can't you smell that smell! Everybody was there for that one.........even the cops unfornately. But they did find out how hard it was to take down a 400lb Asian boy. Damn was he BIG! And plenty awnry sometimes. Peaceful ending though. To sum it all up, well it wouldnt all fit in a nutshell that's for sure. The girls, the cars, the dances, the parties, Seaside/Cannon Beach weekends, Diddlers on the river, the occasional fights, all the good mischief, plenty of good times, a few bad, and all the 'Rock 'n Roll' you could ask for!! But I wouldn't change nuthin'.....well almost nothing. A little blurry here & there but.....Some Damn Fine Memories & This Bud's 4 U!!
