David's Story

College Hey, University was not as daunting as our high school teachers had threatened. I had a great time at University and really didn't have to work all that hard. In my second year I began a radio show that eventually turned into managing the University radio station for two years. It was a gig that I still reminisce about with great fondness. I loved doing radio. It all seems so very long ago. Workplace After University I started off as a computer programmer and worked my way through the monotonous chain of titles until after 3 years I suddenly realized how boring it was to be staring at a computer screen 10 hours a day. What an epipheny! I found excitement, world travel and challenge working for companies like Texas Instruments , Unisys Corp. and Apple Computer. They provided an amazing training ground. panies and eventually sold them. At some point during my career I was asked to invest corporate funds in new leading edge technology companies. Can you imagine being asked to travel and invest money in new leading edge companies? Anyway that is what I did and it led to a career change. After running Apple Computer's venture capital arm for 5 years, I formed my own venture capital firm. In 2004, I took got involved in new agricultural innovations becoming CEO of Bioenterprise Canada Corp, a business accelerator and investment group. We grew the company from 3 people in a tiny little office in Guelph, to a Canada wide company with 8 offices and 40 people. Those last 20 years have been the most rewarding and I am still there because I am having such fun. Always happy to hear from any of you. You are a part of me through my wonderful memories at MDHS.
